Summer Fashion Tips

Summer fashion advice? Rompers are really cool. DON'T FEAR THE ROMPER! It's more flattering than you would think. You just need the right color and the right silhouette. You'll want to avoid ones with tube tops. Choose one that gives a lot of coverage, both up top and with the shorts.

(Actually that's my advice for all your style choices this summer. More coverage...But wait, that means it must be hotter, I'll be uncomfortable! WRONG. Choose lighter, floatier fabric. It's actually much cooler and protects you from the sun.)
I would choose black or navy, rather than a print for a romper. This is just because if it's a print when people see you wear it multiple times, it's like 'oh, there's the orange romper again'. Whereas, with black or navy, it's more versatile. You change your jewelry, your hair, and your shoes, and it's a different look! But as for silhouette, here's a romper from Anthropologie, which is very flattering.

Pair this with a cute pair of neutral sandals or better yet.... PLATFORM SANDALS... They're comfortable, cute, and really fun to wear. This is my other summer fashion advice. These are great.

Other summer fashion advice, a pair of white linen pants. They sound scary, but can be very flattering if you choose the right fit. They float away from the hips, and worn with platform sandals, can really lengthen the leg.

Finally, pants... I have these "Slouchy linen pants" from J. Crew. They're so comfortable, terribly flattering, and I get compliments on them EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Furthermore, the pants below are some of my top picks for the summer. Chambray is very in, and I have a pair of slouchy chambray pants from last summer. They're awesome.

The two pants below are just a silhouette I've been touting for a really long time. I could only find them in designer's collections. And now, months later, they're appearing in stores. Geesh. These people need to catch on quicker. (Only kidding...sort of.)

WOO HOO for summer.

I haven't posted in a while.
I was checking out the new Resort 2011 Collections, and.......................I FOUND A NEW FAVORITE DESIGNER. Yes, favorite. And no, this is not premature. She really is in my top five now.

Zero + Maria Cornejo.
She even does menswear. Really interesting menswear. In fact, her runway menswear is one of my favorites so far too. Her menswear is actually pretty similar to her women's look, which makes sense because her women's looks are quite androgenous. You could probably put her mens looks on the female models and it would be just fine...but she really is amazing-flattering, modest, contemporary. Awesome.

Do you think she'd give me an internship as her assistant?? Just. Kidding.

Out of Dior's 51 Resort 2011 looks, I liked..........1.
I don't particularly like the necklace, but otherwise-stunning.

And out of Chanel's 87 Resort 2011 pieces, I liked only a couple.
Here's a jumper...who knew-a Chanel jumper.

Can't say I like it or hate it, really. I'm not sure. I like the color and it's pretty interesting, but I'm thinking most women would hate how they looked in it.

Here's one look that I would don in a second from Bottega Veneta's Resort 2011 collection:

Simple, chic, flattering. Very cool.

I COULDN'T RESIST! Here are a few more looks from various collections of Zero+Maria Cornejo:

Enjoy.
